Join Daniel Balfour (Sound Designer) and Sam Yates (Director) for a conversation on how they have developed their unique working relationship. Daniel and Sam will share insights into their working processes, shorthand, and tips on collaboration.

About Daniel

Dan is a London-based Sound Designer and Dramaturg from the East Midlands. He has been nominated for Best Sound Design in the 2024 Olivier and WhatsOnStage Awards for his work on Dear England.

About Sam

Sam Yates is an award-winning director working in theatre, film and television. He was named a Screen International Star of Tomorrow and a rising star in The Observer. Yates has been described as “a major talent” in The Guardian newspaper and “a director of unusual flair” in The Observer.

Yates is known for his eclectic body of work with leading talent. Recent projects include the Olivier award-winning VANYA with Andrew Scott, feature debut MAGPIE starring Daisy Ridley, and mini-series TOWARDS ZERO featuring Angelica Huston and Matthew Rhys.
